We're excited to to welcome Leeland to Common Grounds for the first time ever!

When Leeland sings, babies stop crying and birds gather around to learn how to sing.

2 guys, 4 Grammy Nominations, 8 Dove Award Nominations and music that you will truly experience will make for a special

night of music in the backyard of CG.

In 2006 Leeland released their debut album "Sound of

Melodies," this album was groundbreaking and paved the

way for a new generation of Christian music.

4 albums and 2 record labels later, the band is still breaking ground and giving the whole Christian music industry a new sound.

"Their lives, ministry, and music are a true extension of their passion to simply worship God personally and in the context of their community of family and friends."

Check out their latest release "Invisible," you won't regret it.

This is a show you don't want to miss and if you haven't heard, we're giving away 1 of free shows when you buy a ticket to the Leeland show. Check out the next blog for more info on that!

Until next time,

STRAHAN//THE COLLECTION (The Perfect Addition to Your Sing Weekend)

People of Common Grounds,

Baylor Sing weekend is upon us. People are coming from near and far to see their children sing and dance. The weekend comes with its own set of needs that maybe you can relate to.

Need something wholesome to do with your parents?

Need some live entertainment that won’t keep you for 3.5+ hours?

If so, we have 2 great artists playing this weekend that even your parents might like.

STRAHAN (Friday Night)

On Friday night we have a New Zealand solo artist that goes by STRAHAN. [straw-n]

Strahan is a best described as modern psalmist. His music is gentle, folky and packed with timeless truth. If nothing else, his mustache will inspire you to be strong and courageous.

“Like the old psalmist, he reaches to nature to find the face of the divine, wrestling with truth as insistently as the tide claiming the shore. Like the old folk man, he stares through a dim glass and sees a broken world caught in that age old tension. Hallelujahs. Laments. Death. Life. All is beauty.”

You can find tickets to the show here

THE COLLECTION (Saturday Night)

On Saturday night we have The Collection [kuh-lek-shuh n].

The Collection is a community of artists from Greensboro, North Carolina. Their music is rooted in their state’s folk culture. Saturday’s show will take you back to an old timey community jam session in small town North Carolina. The Collection’s lyrics are deeply rooted in their faith and their songs are full of strong allusions to the Bible.

You can find tickets to the show here

My personal favorite is their song, "Dirt". Give it a listen (link below).

Thanks for reading!

Dirt by David Wimbish and The Collection *This song has been slightly altered from its original form* It took 7 days, $30, 135 combined hours, and 1000 photos to bring this song to life.

People of Common Grounds,

What are you doing with your Friday night? I think I have a great idea- but first let me tell you about this incredible band called WILDERADO.

Based out of the Los Angels , CA, Wilderado, (formerly known as Bird Dog) are a 4 piece rock and roll band only comparable to the sounds of the greats, (Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac and J.J Cale). Take a listen to their song The Ocean and the Sea.

Although this is Wilderado’s first time at Common Grounds, they’re no strangers to Waco. 2/4 of the Wilderado members are former Baylor graduates, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them back!

I can say with confidence that Wilderado stands completely apart from any other band we’ve ever had at Common Grounds. From gnarly guitar solos to three part harmonies, Wilderado will be a show to remember.

Supporting Wilderado is a band called Ciity from Dallas also performing for the first time at CG. Ciity is an electronic pop band from Dallas.  Their show will undoubtedly make you want to dance like it's 1985.

So come check them out tonight, it will be best $5 or €4.71 you'll ever spend.

See you guys tonight!

John Moreland

This Friday night in the backyard we have Tulsa’s finest, John Moreland.

The genre of Moreland’s music lies somewhere in between Americana and alternative country. His music is completely unique but comparable to Neil Young, Tom Petty, Steve Earle. This will be a night that you do not want to miss.

Moreland doesn’t shy away from singing about pain in his life. Instead he writes as a way to understand himself and the world.

"Moreland pokes old wounds until you’re sure

they’ve got to be bleeding again. It’s painful.

But in Moreland’s care, it’s also breathtakingly

You can come to the show anticipating to be hit hard by Moreland’s heart-rending lyrics that his raspy, yet soulful, voice will deliver powerfully. You can expect intimate moments that can only be explained as a lifetime of emotions summed up in one night of songs that Moreland will venerably share.

For a sincere night of songs from the heart, come check out John Moreland at CG. You can find tickets here

It’s always a good night when Thomas Csorba is playing in the backyard. Despite the rainy cold weather, Thomas warmed the hearts of his listeners with his sweet voice.

Csorba shared songs off of his unreleased third EP set to drop sometime this Spring. He recently released a single titled “50 Miles.” If you want a small taste of what the new record will be like, you can find the single here

Old songs, new songs and two incredible bands made for a night that we won’t forget. Thanks Thomas, Brother of Pearl and everyone who came out to the show. We’re seriously grateful for each of you.

Ryan Thomas // Cameron Cavalier

It was so great to have Ryan Thomas back with us this weekend to kick off our incredible spring line up. Thomas’ headlining show at Common Grounds was one to remember. Thomas kept the crowd hyped, yet emotionally pulled in with his raw, honest rhymes.

Leading up to the show, Nigel Yarbrough made history as the first ever saxophone artist to serenade the backyard. Then Waco’s own Cameron Cavalier and Silas Nacita (also known as Salsa Nacho) were up next bringing a relaxing, yet engaging set of songs to the audience.

Ryan’s fans (or should I say “fam”) came from miles around and made sure the show was high energy. Thanks for sharing your journey (and dance moves) with us, Ryan. Thanks to all those who came to enjoy this special night. Be sure to take a look at the rest of the shows we have lined up this semester, you won’t want to miss them.
